How to boost Cyberpunk 2077 FPS on Mac
Cyberpunk 2077 runs natively on Apple Silicon Macs and includes MetalFX, Apple’s upscaler. These are the settings that cost the most FPS and the preset that holds 60 FPS on each Mac.

The settings that cost the most FPS
- Ray tracing and path tracing: the single biggest cost. Leave them off below M3 Pro-class chips.
- Screen Space Reflections Quality: dropping it from Psycho or Ultra to Medium recovers a large share of FPS with little visual loss.
- Volumetric Fog and Volumetric Cloud Quality: Medium looks almost identical to High in most of Night City.
- Crowd Density: a CPU setting. Lower it if FPS drops in busy streets but not in interiors.
Which preset to use on each Mac
The highest setting that holds 60 FPS (or 30 when 60 is out of reach), with and without MetalFX Quality.

Cyberpunk 2077-specific tips
- Start from the “For This Mac” preset, which the Mac version tunes to your chip and memory, and adjust from there.
- Use MetalFX upscaling rather than lowering the resolution by hand: the image holds up far better.
- Frame generation raises the FPS counter but adds latency; use it only if you already have 40+ FPS.
- Play in full screen so macOS turns on Game Mode, and close your browser: memory is shared with the GPU.
